Intel 3100X Issues In Macbook Pro
have recently bought a Macbook Pro which is installed with Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Macbook worked for few days but now I am facing some issues with the graphics on it. Any high end graphics application fails to start on the Macbook and the display is has some shadows. The Macbook has Intel 3100X graphic accelerator installed on it. Is this issue related to the graphics accelerator? So if anybody knows how to solve Intel 3100X issues in Macbook Pro then please share some information on the same. Thanks in advance.

Before doing any troubleshooting on your own, I would suggest you to take the Macbook to an authorized apple service center. All the apple products are covered by 1 year apple care warranty in which any problem which is not caused by physical damage is solved free of cost. As the Macbook is recently bought it must be under Apple care cover and hence it will be serviced for free. Take the Macbook to theservice center and get it checked. The problems with the Macbook will be listed and if there is any hardware to be replaced then it will be replaced for free if the Macbook is covered under warranty.

Most of the problems which are encountered on Mac systems are solved by doing a PRAM reset. Sometimes invalid entries get stored on the system memory which create problems in normal working of the system. If the system memory gets flooded by the invalid entries then the operating system will not work properly. You will need to perform a PRAM reset. To perform PRAM reset :-
* Locate the following keys (Apple, Option, R and P)
* Press and hold the following keys while booting the system.
* Keep the buttons pressed till three startup chimes are heard.
* As soon as 3rd start up chime is heard, release the keys and let the system boot on its own.
Check if the drivers for the graphic accelerator are installed and working on the Macbook. All the devices which are connected to the computer system require a set of drivers to be installed on the computer. If appropriate drivers are not installed on the computer then the device will not work properly. I suspect that the appropriate drivers are not installed and hence the graphic accelerator is not working properly. Therefore check if the drivers for the graphic accelerator are installed and working properly. If required, try and update the drivers for the graphic accelerator and check if the problem persists or not.
All the New Macbooks are installed with Intel processors are facing the problems with shadowing effect. This problem is existing because the SMC is not able to terminate all the underlying process properly. To terminate all the underlying process you will have to perform a SMC reset which will help you terminating all the underlying processes. To perform SMC reset, follow the steps below :-
1. Shut down the Macbook and disconnect it from AC source.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
4. Let the computer sit for a minute and then replace the battery.
Now try and boot the computer, hopefully you will not face the same problem.
By looking at the problem it seems to me that the operating system on your Macbook is not working properly due to which you are facing such problem. All the primary functions of the computer are controlled by theoperating system. If the operating system of the computer is not working properly then computer is bound to give such problems. If you have the install disk of the operating system, insert it in the drive and boot the system from it. Install the operating system using install/archive mode. Once the operating system is reinstalled you will not face same problem again.
